We rented a house from Sylvia for over two years, and we greatly enjoyed our experience. Sylvia is responsive to requests for information or repairs, without being overbearing. We felt safe and comfortable with the guards and the grounds and maintenance staff. It can be slow to have some replacement parts or other service needs shipped to the island, but Sylvia was always communicative about what was happening and the reason for any delays, which were minimal.

The house itself (in Vauala) was secure and in good condition. The solid roof that had survived previous cyclones and the flat, screened windows (not louvered) are nice advantages in cyclone season. We were comfortable and dry through the near-hit cyclone in 2016 and other rain and wind events.

Sylvia is very pleasant, happy to chat about ideas or knowledge about the island, and very accommodating. For example, she was happy to have us plant in the garden, putting food plants alongside the decorative plants originally there. All of these things help make a rental house feel like a real home. I highly recommend working with Sylvia!

In 2014, we rented a lovely 3 bedroom home from Craig Housing for just under a year. Situated up on the hill at Vaoala, we were in a gated complex of just two other houses and enjoyed cool sea breezes most days. If there were any maintenance issues, we simply had to call or email and the problem was generally fixed as soon as possible. All tradespeople were trusted staff of Craig Housing and any non-Craig staff was accompanied. I was home many of the times maintenance staff came and everyone was pleasant and friendly. The compound always felt safe and the grounds and gardens were kept tidy. If we ever returned to Samoa, we wouldn’t hesitate to rent that house again or rent from Craig Housing.
